About Prisma Health Ferlauto Center for Complex Pediatric Care
Medically complex children often need multiple medications and special equipment to stay healthy such as feeding tubes, oxygen and ventilators. It is common for them to receive care from multiple specialists, dietitians, therapists, nurses and community organizations. Some children will need help with movement, dressing, learning and other everyday activities of life.
Being a medical home means we review growth, milestones, labs, and immunizations and are there with every new change your child is going through. We see our patients regularly, usually every month. In addition, we provide same-day sick appointments.
To help coordinate this complex care, our team offers:
Time
- You can expect plenty of time to address your concerns, work together to make decisions, prescribe medications, make referrals and review changes in your child’s health.
Experience
- Everyone at the Ferlauto Center has experience in caring for children with complex medical and equipment needs.
Familiar faces
- You can expect to see familiar faces at every visit. Furthermore, your child will see the same doctor at all of their scheduled visits and the majority of sick visits as well. This will help your child to feel safe and secure in their routine.
Because we are limited in the number of patients we can serve at the Ferlauto Center, we have two requests for referrals:
Patients must be medically complex
We loosely follow the criteria for the Medically Complex Children’s Waiver, or another Medicaid waiver through the Department for Disabilities or Special Needs. Otherwise, most of our patients have multiple medical specialists, gastrostomy tubes, tracheostomy tubes and/or a ventilator. If you are unsure if your child or patient qualifies, please contact us.
Patient’s families want to come
To provide quality care, we generally see our patients monthly for office visits.
To best help our patients, we prefer referrals come through a primary care provider.
Referrals can be made through one of two ways:
- Epic (EHR) referral to “Amb Referral to Pediatric Complex Care.”
- Complete the below referral form for a current primary care provider to fax to the Ferlauto Center at 864-522-5290.
Please contact us for questions regarding eligibility. We discuss referrals weekly and will contact the family regarding eligibility and arrange a new patient appointment accordingly.
To help our patients, we offer to see non-medically complex siblings in our practice.
Patients are responsible for understanding insurance coverage benefits. Please verify that we are listed as approved providers prior to scheduling your appointment with us.
- We accept most insurance plans.
- Payment is due at time of service.
- We accept cash, checks, debit and credit cards.
